Introduction to the Ambrose family

In the mid-18th century the Ambrose family here were in Upholland, Lancashire (near Wigan) and were farmers and millers.  I know next to nothing about the family, or their current whereabouts, excepting what shows on the tree itself. It seems that many members of the family in the mid 19th century started to work at the copper works in St Helens (with one at Jarrow).
