Melba records were made by the Metropole Gramophone Co using matrices also available on Metropole and/or Piccadilly. The reason for the label's existence is not yet known and the very plain label gives no clues. The catalogue numbers are in an 1000- series running from 1001 to 1060 (believed to be the highest issued).

What is immediately obvious, from lookinjg at the available issues, is that the Melba records mix up old and new Piccadilly masters, implying that they were all probably issued in about 1931 or even later.

My thanks to Charles Hippisley-Cox for the label scan.

I don't have any of these myself, so need all the help I can get! Mike Langridge has provided me with a lot of new information for this label.

Please e-mail me if you have any additions or corrections to this page.
My thanks to the following for their help:
Peter Andrews, John Culley, Bill Dean-Myatt, Keith Hubbard, Alexandros Kozak, Mike Langridge, John Norman
